Orsa AI Chats — New, Search, Rename and Delete

Start a new Orsa AI chat, find an earlier one with Search chats, rename or delete chats, and understand who can see them and how Orsa AI handles long chats.

Every Orsa AI chat is saved, so you can come back to it later. You can keep separate chats for separate jobs, like one for next month’s plan and one for a product launch.

This guide covers the main Orsa AI chat on the Organize page. Click Ask Orsa AI at the bottom right to open it. For what Orsa AI is and what it knows, see Meet Orsa AI.

Quick start (5 minutes)

  1. Open the Organize page and click Ask Orsa AI.
  2. Type a message and press Enter. The chat is named after your first message.
  3. Click the chat’s name at the top of the panel. A list of your chats opens.
  4. Click any earlier chat to go back to it.
  5. To start fresh, click New chat at the bottom of the list.

Start a new chat

Each time you open the Orsa AI panel, you start on a new, empty chat. Your earlier chats stay in the list.

To start a new chat while the panel is open:

  • Click the + button next to the chat’s name at the top of the panel, or
  • Click the chat’s name, then New chat at the bottom of the list, or
  • In full screen, click New chat at the top of the left sidebar.

A new chat is called New Conversation until you send your first message. Then it’s named after the first 50 or so characters of that message.

New chat is greyed out when the chat you’re in is still empty. Hover over it and you see “You’re already on a new conversation”.

Example: you’ve finished planning July’s posts. Click New chat and ask “Help me plan our summer sale”. The new chat is named “Help me plan our summer sale”.

Find an earlier chat

  1. Click the chat’s name at the top of the Orsa AI panel. In full screen, the list is in the left sidebar.
  2. Your chats are listed with the most recently used first. Each shows its name and when it was last used.
  3. To narrow the list, type in Search chats. It matches words in the chat’s name, not in the messages.
  4. Click a chat to open it.

If nothing matches, you see “No chats match that search.”

The list shows your 20 most recently used chats. For an older one, search for its name.

Rename a chat

Give a chat a clear name so it’s easy to find later.

  1. Open the list of chats.
  2. Hover over the chat and click the pencil (Rename).
  3. Type the new name.
  4. Press Enter or click Save. Press Esc to cancel.

Example: rename “Give me a few content ideas to work…” to Q3 ideas for the Main Street shop.

Delete a chat

  1. Open the list of chats.
  2. Hover over the chat and click the bin (Delete).
  3. You see Delete "<chat name>"? This can't be undone. Click Delete.

If you delete the chat you’re in, Orsa AI opens your most recent other chat, or a new one if you have none left.

Deleting a chat doesn’t delete what you approved in it. Ideas, pillars, audiences, drafts and designs stay where they are, and so does anything Orsa AI saved to Brand Memory. Cards you hadn’t decided on yet are gone with the chat.

Full screen and the sidebar

Click Expand at the top of the Orsa AI panel for full screen. Click Exit full screen to go back.

In full screen, the left sidebar has:

  • New chat and Search chats.
  • Chats: your list of chats. Hover over one to rename or delete it.
  • Task plan: the steps Orsa AI is working through for a bigger request, ticked off as it goes. It only appears when Orsa AI has made a plan.
  • Subagents: the specialists Orsa AI has handed work to, and whether they’re running, done or failed. It shows while they work and for a few minutes after.

In the smaller panel, the plan shows as Plan above the chat box instead. See Specialists and Task Plans.

Who can see your chats

Your Orsa AI chats are private to you.

  • Teammates on the same brand don’t see your chats, and you don’t see theirs.
  • Chats belong to one brand. Switch brands and you see that brand’s chats.
  • What you approve in a chat is shared. A new idea appears on everyone’s Ideas board.
  • What Orsa AI saves to Brand Memory is shared with the whole brand, and Orsa AI uses it in everyone’s chats.

To share something Orsa AI wrote, approve it so it’s saved, or copy the text into a document or a comment.

How Orsa AI handles long chats

Orsa AI reads your most recent messages in full each time it replies. In a long chat, older messages are folded into a short summary instead, about a few paragraphs long. The summary is updated about once an hour.

This means early details in a very long chat can fade. Orsa AI remembers the gist, like decisions you made and corrections you gave, but not every word.

To keep important things:

  • Save them to memory. Say “Remember that…”, and Orsa AI saves it to Brand Memory, where every chat can use it.
  • Repeat them. Restate key details in your latest message.
  • Start a new chat for a new topic. A short, focused chat works better than one long one.

Chats inside the editors

The Design, Document, Transcript and Marketing Email editors each have their own Orsa AI chat for the item you’re editing. Those chats stay with that item. They don’t show in the list on the Organize page. See Orsa AI in the Editors.

Ideas for organizing your chats

One chat per project.

A freelancer keeps Acme: May launch, Acme: evergreen ideas and Acme: pillar setup as separate chats for one client brand.

A monthly planning chat.

Start a new chat on the first of each month called October plan. Next month, search “plan” to find last month’s.

Tips for the best results

  • Rename chats you’ll come back to. Search only looks at chat names.
  • Start new chats often. Shorter chats keep Orsa AI focused and avoid the summary dropping details.
  • Save lasting facts to memory, not the chat. Other chats, and your teammates’ chats, can’t see this chat. Brand Memory is shared.
  • Decide on cards before deleting a chat. Undecided cards are lost.

Common questions

My earlier chat disappeared when I reopened Orsa AI. It’s still there. Orsa AI opens on a new chat each time. Click the chat’s name at the top of the panel to see your earlier chats.

I can’t find an old chat. The list shows your 20 most recently used chats. Type part of the chat’s name in Search chats.

Search chats doesn’t find a chat I know mentions “pricing”. Search only matches chat names, not the messages inside. Try words from the chat’s name.

New chat is greyed out. The chat you’re in has no messages yet, so you’re already on a new chat. Hover over the button and you see “You’re already on a new conversation”.

My teammate can’t see the chat I had with Orsa AI. Chats are private. Approve what you want to keep, or copy it into a document. See Who can see your chats.

Orsa AI forgot something I said at the start of a long chat. Older parts of long chats are summarized, so details can fade. Repeat it, or ask Orsa AI to remember it. See How Orsa AI handles long chats.

I closed the panel while Orsa AI was working. Orsa AI keeps working. Open Orsa AI again, click the chat’s name and pick that chat to see the reply.

Can I get a deleted chat back? No. Deleting a chat can’t be undone.
