Swipe File — Save and Organize Your Best Inspiration
Save posts, articles and Reddit threads from Discover to your team's Swipe File, add things by hand, write notes, tag and search them, and get an AI summary of why each one works.
Your Swipe File is your team’s collection of content worth learning from. Save a competitor’s post that did well, an article with a smart angle, or a Reddit thread full of customer questions. Add a note on why it works, tag it, and find it again when you plan your own content.
Everyone on your brand’s team sees the same Swipe File.
Open Discover and click the Swipe File tab, or click Swipe File under Discover in the sidebar.
Quick start (5 minutes)
- Open the Discover Feed.
- Click the star on a post you like.
- Type a note, like “Before-and-after in the first frame”, and click Save to Swipe File.
- Click the Swipe File tab. Your saved post is at the top.
- Click Edit under it, then + Add tag, and create a tag like
Hooks. - Click Save Changes.
Save something from Discover
You can save social posts, website articles, web watchlist results and Reddit posts.
- In the Feed or on the Signals tab, click the star on a card. You can also click the star in the Post Details panel.
- Type a note in Why does this work? (optional), like “Asks a question in the first line”.
- Click Save to Swipe File.
You’ll see Saved to swipe file, and the star fills in.
Saving the same item again replaces its note with the new one. If you leave the note empty, the old note is kept. To change a note, use Edit on the Swipe File tab instead.
To learn more about browsing the Feed, see Discover Feed.
Add something by hand
Use Add manually for anything Discover doesn’t track. For example, a competitor’s email, a flyer you photographed, or a post from a platform you don’t follow.
- On the Swipe File tab, click Add manually.
- Fill in at least a Title or some Text:
- Title: a short name, like “Competitor’s holiday email”.
- Text: paste the copy, or describe what you saw.
- Optionally, add a Platform, like
Email, and a Link to the original. The link must be a full web address, likehttps://example.com/offer. - Optionally, add a Note on why it works.
- Click Save.
You can’t upload images to a manual item. To keep a picture, add a link to where it’s stored, or describe it in the Text.
Example: A salon gets a rival’s text message offer. They add it manually: Title “Rival’s last-minute booking text”, Text “Gaps today! 20% off any blow-dry booked in the next 2 hours”, Platform
SMS, Note “Urgency plus a clear deadline”.
What a saved item shows
Each saved item shows the content, its note in quotes, and its tags.
- Saved social posts show a bigger card with the image, the @username and platform, likes, comments and engagement rate.
- Saved articles, web results and Reddit posts show the same card as in the Feed.
- Manual items show their title and text.
Click a card to open Post Details. Click the arrow to open the original. Saved social posts, articles, web results and Reddit posts also have the lightbulb, to turn them into a content idea. Manual items don’t. See Ideas Board.
The newest saves are at the top. Click Load More at the bottom to see older ones. Click View to switch between List and Grid.
“This saved item is no longer available.” The original post or page is no longer stored in Orsa, so it can’t be shown. You can still Remove it.
Edit a note and add tags
- Click Edit under a saved item. The Edit Saved Item window opens.
- Change the Note.
- Under Tags, click + Add tag:
- Tick an existing tag, or
- Type a New tag name…, pick a color, and click Create.
- Click Save Changes.
Tag changes save straight away, even if you then click Cancel. The note only saves when you click Save Changes.
For manual items, you can also change the Title, Text, Platform and Link. For items saved from Discover, only the note and tags can change.
Tags are shared across your brand. The same tags are used on ideas and other content, so you can reuse names your team already knows.
Get an AI summary with Analyze with AI
Orsa AI can write a short note on why an item works and suggest tags.
- Click Edit under a saved item.
- Click Analyze with AI, next to Note.
- Orsa AI shows a one or two sentence summary, like “Opens with a bold price comparison, then shows the product in use.”
- Click Use as note to copy it into the Note box. Edit it if you like.
- Click any suggested tag, like + Pricing, to add it. Orsa AI suggests up to 4 tags and prefers tags your brand already has.
- Click Save Changes to keep the note.
Orsa AI reads the item’s text: the caption of a social post, the summary of an article, the title and snippet of a web result, the title and text of a Reddit post, or the title and text of a manual item. If there’s no text, you’ll see “Nothing to analyze — this item has no text content.”
Search and filter by tag
- Search: type in Search notes and tags…. It finds items whose note or tag name contains your words. It doesn’t search the post’s own caption or text.
- Tags: click a tag chip under the search box to show only items with that tag. Click more chips to see items with any of those tags. Click All to clear.
The chips only list tags used on the saved items loaded so far.
Example: Before a planning meeting, a gym clicks the
HooksandReelschips to see 12 saved examples to discuss.
“Still relevant?”
A saved item shows a Still relevant? badge when nobody has edited it for 90 days or more. It’s a nudge to check whether the item still deserves a place.
- To keep it, click Edit, update the note if you like, and click Save Changes. The badge goes away.
- If it’s out of date, click Remove.
Adding or removing a tag doesn’t clear the badge.
Remove an item
Click Remove under a saved item. It’s removed straight away, with no confirmation, and you’ll see Removed from swipe file. It’s removed for your whole team.
Removing an item doesn’t delete the original post or page. You can still find it in the Feed and save it again, but its old note and tags are gone.
Ideas for using the Swipe File
Build a hook library
Save posts with strong openings and tag them Hooks.
Example: A real estate agent saves 15 competitor Reels over a month, each with a note like “Starts with the price, then the reveal”. Before filming, they click the
Hookschip and pick three openings to try.
Collect examples for a campaign Make a tag for each upcoming campaign and save examples to it.
Example: A toy shop creates a
Holiday 2026tag in October. Everyone on the team saves holiday posts and emails they like. In November, the chip shows 20 examples in one place.
Keep competitor emails and flyers Use Add manually for things Discover can’t watch.
Example: A restaurant pastes each competitor newsletter into Text, with Platform
Competitor email.
Ask Orsa AI to work from your saves Orsa AI can read your Swipe File and its notes. Ask, for example, “Write three post ideas like the ones we saved under Hooks.” See Orsa AI.
Tips for the best results
Always write a note. “Why does this work?” is the point of a swipe file. A one-line note, like “Shows the result before the process”, helps your team and Orsa AI reuse the idea.
Use a few clear tags.
Five to ten tags, like Hooks, Offers, Behind the scenes and Testimonials,
are easier to use than dozens.
Use Analyze with AI as a starting point. Orsa AI’s summary is a quick first draft. Edit it to say what you want to copy.
Save from Signals. Breakout posts on the Signals tab are already doing well. They’re often the best things to save. See Signals.
Clear out “Still relevant?” items now and then. A smaller, up-to-date Swipe File is easier to use.
Common questions
Who can see my Swipe File? Everyone on your brand’s team. Saves, notes and tags are shared.
I saved a post again and my note disappeared. Saving the same item again replaces its note. If the note box was empty, the old note is cleared. Use Edit on the Swipe File tab to change a note.
The star isn’t filled in when I come back to the Feed. The star only fills in right after you save. To check whether something is saved, look on the Swipe File tab.
Search doesn’t find a post I saved. Search only looks at notes and tag names, not the post’s own text. Add a note or a tag to make it easy to find.
A tag I use isn’t in the chips. The chips come from the saved items loaded so far. Click Load More to load older items and their tags.
Analyze with AI says “Nothing to analyze”. The item has no text to read, for example a social post with no caption. Write the note yourself.
I removed something by mistake. There’s no undo. Find the post again in the Feed and save it again. For a manual item, add it again with Add manually.
Can I upload a screenshot? Not to the Swipe File. Add a Link to where the image is, or describe it in Text.
What does “This saved item is no longer available” mean? The original is no longer stored in Orsa. Click Remove to clear it.
