Signing Up and Logging In

Create your Orsa account and first brand, sign in with email or Google, and verify your email with a code.

You need an Orsa account to use the app. Signing up takes a minute and creates your first brand at the same time. A brand is the workspace for one business or client. Each new brand starts with a 14-day free trial.

You can sign up and sign in two ways:

  • With your email and a password.
  • With Google, using the Google button at the top of the page (Sign up with Google on the sign-up page, Sign in with Google on the sign-in page).

After you sign up, you verify your email address with a short code. Most of the app stays locked until you do.

Quick start (5 minutes)

  1. Go to the sign-up page.
  2. Fill in Full name, Username, Work email, Brand name and Password, then type the password again in Confirm password.
  3. Tick the box to agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
  4. Click Create account. You’re signed in and we email you a verification code.
  5. On the My Account page that opens, click Verify next to your email.
  6. Copy the code from the email, paste it into the box and click Submit.

That’s it. Your next step is setting up your brand. See Creating and Setting Up a Brand.

Signing up with email

  1. Go to the sign-up page. From the sign-in page, click Sign up in the top right.
  2. Fill in the form:
    • Full name: your name, like “Sarah Lewis”.
    • Username: a short name with no spaces, like “sarahlewis”. Teammates use it to @mention you. Spaces are removed as you type.
    • Work email: the email you’ll sign in with, like “sarah@youragency.com”.
    • Brand name: the business or client you’re starting with, like “Lewis Bakery”. You can add more brands later.
    • Password: at least 8 characters, with a number and a special character (like !, -, _ or @). Under the field you’ll see what’s still missing, and a bar showing how strong it is, from Too short to Strong ✓.
    • Confirm password: the same password again.
  3. Tick the box that says you agree to Orsa’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Both links open in a new tab.
  4. Click Create account. The button stays grey until every field is filled in and the box is ticked.
  5. You’ll see “Account created! Check your email for a verification code.” and you’re signed straight in.

Example: a freelance social media manager signs up with the brand name of her first client, “Green Leaf Café”. She adds her other clients as extra brands later.

What you get

  • Your account.
  • Your first brand, with you as its Owner.
  • A 14-day free trial on that brand. See Plans and Billing for what each plan includes.
  • Any brand invitations already sent to your email. They show up in your notifications so you can accept them.

Signing up or signing in with Google

  1. On the sign-up page click Sign up with Google, or on the sign-in page click Sign in with Google.
  2. Pick your Google account in the Google window.
  3. You’re signed straight into Orsa.

The first time you use Google

  • If no Orsa account uses that Gmail or Google Workspace address yet, one is created for you.
  • Your name comes from your Google account.
  • Your username is made from the start of your email address. For example, “sarah.lewis@gmail.com” becomes “sarahlewis”. You can change it in My Account.
  • Your first brand is named after you, like “Sarah’s Brand”, and starts a 14-day free trial. You can rename it later in your brand’s settings.

If you already have an account with that email

Google sign-in connects to your existing account. You keep your password, brands and content, and can sign in either way from then on.

Adding a password to a Google account

An account created with Google has no password at first. My Account shows No password set (signed in with Google). To also sign in with email and password:

  1. Open My Account from your profile picture at the bottom of the sidebar.
  2. Next to Password, click Set password.
  3. Type a new password twice and click Set Password.

Signing in

  1. Go to the sign-in page.
  2. Type your Email and Password. Click the eye icon to see what you typed.
  3. Click Sign in.

Or click Sign in with Google if your account uses Google.

If you opened Orsa from a link in a guide while signed out, you go straight to that page after you sign in. Otherwise you land on your Home page.

Forgot your password? Click Forgot password? above the password box. See Resetting Your Password.

Verifying your email

Orsa checks that your email address is really yours. Until you verify it:

  • The app opens on My Account with an orange Email Verification Required message.
  • The rest of the sidebar is greyed out. When the sidebar is collapsed, hovering over an item shows Verify your email first.

To verify:

  1. Open My Account. It opens by itself while your email is unverified.
  2. Next to your email, click Verify. You’ll see “Verification email sent. Please check your inbox!” If we sent you a code in the last few minutes (for example right after sign-up), the code box opens straight away so you can use that one.
  3. Open the email from Orsa. Its subject starts with “Orsa -”.
  4. In the Verify Your Email box, type or paste the code from the email.
  5. Click Submit.
  6. You’ll see Email Verified Successfully, and Verified with a tick appears next to your email. The sidebar unlocks.

A code is emailed when you sign up, and again when you sign in while your email is still unverified. Clicking Verify sends a fresh one.

Use the code, not any link in the email. Type the code into the Verify Your Email box in the app.

Signing out

  1. Click your profile picture at the bottom of the sidebar. On a phone, tap Profile in the bottom bar.
  2. Click Logout.

Tips for the best results

  • Use the email you’ll keep. You can’t change your email from My Account, so sign up with the address you plan to use long term.
  • Use your work email if your team uses it. Teammates invite you by email. Invitations sent to the address you sign up with appear in your notifications right away.
  • Pick a username your team will recognize. It’s how people @mention you in comments. “sarahlewis” is easier to find than “sl1987”.
  • Name the brand after the business, not yourself. If you manage several clients, give each its own brand with the client’s name.
  • Verify in the same browser. Click Verify and enter the code in the same browser window, without signing out in between.
  • Set a password if you use Google. It gives you a second way in if you ever lose access to your Google account.

Common questions

I signed up but never got a verification email. Orsa emails a code when you sign up, and again when you sign in while your email isn’t verified. Check your inbox and spam folder for an email whose subject starts with “Orsa -”. To get a new one, click Verify next to your email on My Account. If a code was sent in the last few minutes, the code box opens so you can enter that one instead.

My verification code doesn’t work. You’ll see a message saying the code is wrong or has expired. Click Cancel, click Verify again to get a new code, and use the newest email. Enter it in the same browser you signed up or signed in with.

I clicked a link in the verification email and nothing happened. Verify with the code instead. Open My Account, click Verify, and type the code from the email into the box.

Everything in the sidebar is greyed out. If your email isn’t verified yet (hover text Verify your email first), verify it on My Account. If your email is verified (hover text Complete onboarding first), finish setting up your brand. See Creating and Setting Up a Brand.

I get “Incorrect email or password. Please try again.” Check you’re using the email you signed up with, not your username. If you signed up with Google and never set a password, use Sign in with Google. Still stuck? Click Forgot password?.

Sign-up says “Username already exists.” or “Email already exists.” Someone already uses that username, so pick another one. If the email already exists, you have an account: sign in instead, or reset your password.

Sign-up rejects my password. Passwords need at least 8 characters, a number and a special character. Very common passwords (like “password123”) and passwords too close to your name or email are also rejected, and the message under the form says which rule failed. Try a longer phrase with a number and a symbol.

The Google button doesn’t appear, or I see “Could not load Google sign-in.” Your browser or an extension may be blocking Google. Turn off ad or tracker blockers for Orsa and reload the page, or sign in with email and password.

I was invited to a brand. Do I still need to sign up? Yes. Sign up with the email address the invitation was sent to. The sign-up form also creates a brand of your own. The invitation then appears in your notifications for you to accept. See Inviting Your Team.

Can I delete my account? There’s no option to delete your account in the app.
